[Unit Project 2] How to make Miso Hotpot

     What kind of food comes to mind when you think of winter? For me, it's a hotpot dish. Hotpot dish is made from some of east Asia countries and along the Mediterranean coast. For example, China, South Korea, and Soth France. One of the countries is Japan. In Japan, hotpot dish was made in the Jomon period for the first time. However, it is very different from today's hotpot dishes. Also, hotpot dishes are eaten all over the world currently. It has many kinds of flavors and ingredients, so you can make it according to your taste.

     Since I entered the university, I always think how I can make dishes easier. Also, how make me full and have a balanced diet. Then, my mother advised me to cook hotpot, so I tried to cook it. When I think back, I often ate it with my family in winter.  So, I decided to have a solo hotpot. It is delicious and memorable taste for me. That's why I introduce how to make hotpot dish!


You will need:
・Pot (600ml)
・Chopping board
・Knife
・Cooking spoon
・Ladle
・Pair of chopsticks

This recipe yields one serving
Ingredients:
・Water 400ml
・Pork belly 80g
・Tofu 150g
・Chinese cabbage (roughly chopped) 150g
・Shimeji mushrooms 90g
・Meatball 6
・Seasoning for hotpot of miso flavor (Puchitto nabe in Japanese. This product is produced by EBARA FOODS) 1 cup









Procedure:
1. First, 400ml water put into the pot.









2. Next, the cup of seasoning for hotpot (Puchitto nabe) put into the pot and mix it with water and boil it.









3. Next, when waiting the water to boil, cut the tofu in a dice shape and cut pork belly into bite-size pieces by using the knife.














4. When finish cutting the ingredients from step 3, prepare the shimeji mushrooms, meatballs, and Chinese cabbages.


5. When the water starts to boil, add the sliced pork belly from step 3 and meatballs from step 4 into the hot water.









6. Next, the Chinese cabbage, the shimeji mushrooms, and the tofu from step 3 amd 4 into the hot water.








7. Next, boil it well for about 10 minutes and remove the scum. It's called "Aku" in Japanese.







8. After the step7, make sure the ingredients completely catch fire. It's done.



    





     It's good to choose your favorite taste for hotpot dishes! I recommend the miso flavor and kimchi flavor. In my opinion, when having a solo hotpot, two servings may be just right amount for some people. This is because I sometimes felt that one serving was a little less. So, I recommend that you adjust the amount according to your hunger. Also, leftover miso soup can be eaten and used by putting noodles in the pot, so it'll make you clean up easily. Enjoy having hotpot dishes!
